StudioServer — Library Audit & Cleanup

A point-in-time inventory of every movie, TV show and album on StudioServer, with reclaim candidates ranked by recoverable space. Pulled live from the Plex API over SSH to studio (100.82.41.69) on 28 Jun 2026; file sizes confirmed byte-for-byte on disk. The full interactive library is in Airtable.

Bottom line

~787 GB easy, up to ~1.0 TB with downgrades

The disk crunch is PERSONAL at 93% (306 GB free) — not MEDIA, which still has 1.57 TB free. Movies/TV live on MEDIA; music lives on PERSONAL. The two Plex music sections are the same files indexed twice — removing a section frees zero disk.

Deleting from MEDIA also shrinks MEDIA-MIRROR on the next nightly rsync (--delete). The real pressure is on PERSONAL; the page's own issue #4 notes the slskd Soulseek spill (2,435 dirs) as the prime PERSONAL reclaim target.

5 · Music & duplicates

Plex shows two music sections — Music and Music — Personal — totalling ~3,742 album entries / ~3,007 GB. These point at the same files on /Volumes/PERSONAL/media/music; deduped to a single physical copy it is 1,918 albums / ~1,540 GB. Removing the duplicate Plex section tidies the catalogue but frees no disk.

"Bands never in the Top 50" can't be derived from Plex metadata alone — it has no chart history. That cull needs either your judgement or a charts dataset (I can pull one on request). The Airtable Albums table is sorted by size so the heaviest albums are easy to skim meanwhile.

6 · Method & caveats

Source: Plex API (sections 6/7/10/11/12) over SSH to studio, 28 Jun 2026. Sizes summed from each item's media parts; cross-checked on disk (e.g. 28 Years Later = 11,241,978,733 bytes, exact). Flags: OVER_10GB >10 GB; VERY_HQ = 4K or >15 GB; DUP_VERSIONS = multiple Plex media versions; OLD_FOREIGN = year ≤1999 and no English-language production country; LOW_INTEREST = audience rating <5.5. Caveats: country is a proxy for language; ratings missing on some titles; reclaim figures are estimates pending per-file confirmation. Nothing here has been deleted — this is a review surface only.
